7 Wonders of the Week: 2/6 – 2/12

snow-covered-mountains-in-colorado

I was reading another blog earlier this week where they posted a “12 Things Tuesday” series and I felt so light and fun after reading it that it inspired my own version of the idea called “7 Wonders of the Week.” In these posts, I will share my thoughts, insights, wonders, or inspirations from each day of the week, journal-style! It should feel like we’re chatting on the phone or over a glass of wine.

Let me know if you like these?! I hope you enjoy as much as I did putting it together.

Monday, 2/6: It might not be convenient.

My sweet neighbor called me on Monday morning just as I was getting into my work and schedule for the day to ask if I could pick her up from the car dealership where she had to drop off her car. It was last minute because the car dealership misled her on the fact that they could take her back home in a shuttle (we love car dealerships, am I right?).

I was happy to stop what I was doing to go pick her up! It turned into a really lovely morning of me listening to a podcast on my way there and catching up with my friend on the way back. What a great way to start my week.

It did get me thinking though: There are lots of things in life that are not convenient but pay off in the long run. We are very privileged in America with so many conveniences (for instance, I do not know any American who must walk 10 miles a day to get water). And sometimes that makes it hard to get out of our own life and look at the bigger picture.

It might not be convenient to do a last-minute favor for a friend, but I am obsessed with living in a loving community.

It might not be convenient to pay taxes, but I do appreciate paved roads, service workers and great schools.

It might not be convenient to speak up on behalf of a minority group at work, but if you value true freedom and equality, then it is required.

It might not be convenient to go out of my way to send a random “thank you” text or handwritten card, but I also enjoy sharing and receiving appreciation in my daily life.

You get the point. Let’s stop assuming that we should only do things that are convenient. We miss out on so many wonders of life that way.

Tuesday 2/7: Getting intimate with my finances?

I got a hit of intuition this week to really get “into” my finances. To learn more about money, investing, taxes, etc. I was initially not excited about this (LOL), but I listened to my gut and took my steps. I dove into my bank statements, I set up an automatic payment to my IRA each month and I ordered a new book to learn more! It is called “I Will Teach You To Be Rich.” Stay tuned, I’ll let you know how it is.

I surprised myself when at the end of the week, I was really enjoying (like truly having fun) with my finances. I’ve always enjoyed the abundance mindset and wealth consciousness stuff, but the practical, earthly steps felt confusing and overwhelming.

I’m happy to report that this week I blew my own mind (which is always a vibe). I encourage every person, especially every woman, to make a ritual out of being intimate with money.

Remember: Every relationship you have is a mirror, including the relationship you have with money.

Wednesday 2/8: Live a big life and do cool shit.

On Wednesday, I met a female executive at a very large production studio. It was crazy to me. Here I am in Eaton, Colorado, looking out at a corn field and pinching myself.  POV: I recently went out on my own and am currently working on a project with one of the most historical ranches in America, truly due to the synchronicity of being in the right place at the right time with the right people.

I did a meditation with my younger self on Wednesday (unrelated, it popped up on something I listen to. Wish I remember where so I could tell you – good grief!). Anyways, it asked what your younger self would tell you today.

My younger self had the most amazing insight. She said:

“Em, set yourself free. Break the chains you’re sitting in. Live a big life and do cool shit.”

No more hiding in the shadows. No more waiting until tomorrow. No more settling.

Enough said.

Thursday 2/9: Coffee shop energy.

On Thursday I decided to go into town and work at a very vibey coffee shop. Within 15 minutes I met 2 people who work there and we’re now on a first name basis. I love meeting new friends!

I grew up in a lot of chaos, so being around people and noise helps me focus and inspires me in different ways.

I happened to overhear a conversation between the coffee bartender and someone at the coffee bar (who must have been a friend). I gathered that they were both currently in college and very committed to their faith. The coffee-tender told his friend this story about how he came to college determined to not date anyone because his heart had been broken in high school, but God had different plans for him. He met his now-wife within 6 months of moving to college.

I smiled because these guys were still very young and seemed like absolute babies, but honestly who’s to say? Maybe heartbreak and love look the same at any age. Some experiences are timeless and I just loved that they were discussing this together over their morning coffee man-date.

Coffee shops feel like people who are in pursuit of their dreams. At every stage of life. I couldn’t ask for better energy to surround myself with. Where can you find this type of positive space in your town? Maybe make it a thing to go there once a week (or as often as possible).

Friday 2/10: Let your body catch up.

On Friday, I went to see my spiritual intuitive (who is also a mentor, guide and friend). Her name is also Emily and our time together is always magical.

I was feeling like my body was a bit under-functioning and given my health history (if you are an original blog reader you might remember), I was starting to give in to some of the fears in my head. Without me asking, Emily said to me “Em, you are going through a very rapid transformation and shift. In fact, you may not even feel it because it is so profound and quick. If your body feels a little slower than usual or a bit off, it is just because it is trying to catch up.”

Is that not the best?!

I believe that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, which means that our physical bodies sometimes need a minute.

When we are growing spiritually or emotionally, we must be understanding with our bodies. The physical sometimes needs a chance to catch up to our inner transformation, but that does not mean that anything is wrong.

Saturday 2/11: Keeping my date with myself.

Today I had this vision that I would really have time with myself. I was craving it and knew that was what I needed. I did my errands, took care of my animals and then thought “Ok, this is my time!”

Right around then, my aunt texted if we could catch up on the phone. I was tempted to say yes and be the people pleaser (and because I love talking to my aunt), but I asked her if we could catch up another day because I was spending time alone with myself.

She was, of course, very understanding and I felt great keeping this promise to myself. It made me wonder: How often do we break the promises we make to ourselves because we adapt to what others ask of us?

I think this is a very gray topic, especially depending on your season of life, but maybe just something to consider?! Is there one small promise that you could make to yourself AND keep this week?

Sunday 2/12: Stay Young, Stay Social.

My biggest project this week was Divinely inspired and I am launching it now! It is called Stay Young, Stay Social and it is designed to help people use Instagram.

The idea came from my mother’s daily calls that go something like this: “Em, how do I ______ on Instagram?”

It hit me.

There are so many people who want to be social but are not quite sure how to use Instagram and have it be a positive experience.

Enter: Stay Young, Stay Social!

This first round starts March 6th and will be live, so I don’t think you want to miss it! I promise that it will be a hoot and will answer all your questions so that nothing will stop you from being a force of light on “The Gram.”

I am closing the registration on February 22nd. I wouldn’t wait.

And there we are. My week of wonder: 2/6 – 2/12.

I hope it inspired something new inside of your heart.

To seeing the daily wonder,

Xoxo,

Em
