7 tips for trusting that you are a creator
When life feels low, how do you keep the faith?
I get this question ALL the time, and it’s a fair one. How do you stay hopeful when things don’t seem to be working out for you, i.e. when things are not manifesting?
I nerd out over all things manifestation, the Universe, and the law of attraction. Once you get this stuff, you can’t not see things clearly.
When I was growing up, Abraham-Hicks made their debut into the world. My mom was an early student and subscribed to their monthly tapes. Y’all, every month in the mail, my mom received a TAPE (and later a CD) that she would proceed to play in the car. I can remember my brother and I rolling our eyes. “MOM, NOT AGAIN.”
Now, I laugh because I see how this laid the foundation for who I am and what I believe and I am SO grateful. I have been receiving Mike Dooley’s daily “Notes from the Universe” since I was 20 years old. I’ve been reading books about this stuff since I was in high school. And I continue to learn every single day.
So I wanted to share some of the tips I have learned through my lifetime. In other words, if you are in a spot where you feel like things just are not going your way, here’s my best tips for remembering that you are a powerful creator.
1) Reframe. You knew this was coming right? It’s tip #1 for a reason. If you choose to believe that everything is always working out for you (which is a choice that you CAN make), then whatever situation you are currently in is also working out for you. Expect to understand the ups and downs soon and let it go. This too is FOR you.
2) Ask yourself if this illuminates a dark place. Sometimes things not working out exactly as you had initially hoped is an indication of a limiting belief you still need to break through. Another example that this IS working out for you! Give thanks for another opportunity to grow and release limiting beliefs. Hint: many limiting beliefs have to do with fear and doubt, which stem from an underlying feeling of unworthiness. Look inwards and check in with yourself. Is there some unworthiness creeping up that you have the opportunity to heal?
3) Name your feelings. When things don’t seem to be working out right away, it can bring up lots of feelings. One day you’re feeling empowered and the next you’re bummed that things have not appeared yet. When this happens, give your feelings a name and a hug. I’m still working on naming feelings something other than “good” or “bad.” But the tip still stands! If you are feeling bad, stop and take a minute to check in. Is the feeling fear? Anger? Frustration? Doubt? Worry? Anxiety? Panic? Name what you are feeling and then imagine yourself giving it a hug. I imagine my negative feelings as the bugs in the old Mucinex commercial—weird, I know, but that’s what pops into my brain. I see them in my head and I give them a hug. I thank them for what they are trying to tell me, I listen objectively, and then I respectfully send them on their way. This visual really helps me. And it takes away the power of negative feelings. Remember, you are not your thoughts and you are not your feelings. Listen, respect them, and let them go.
4) Keep a driftwood journal. Abraham-Hicks talks about driftwood—small synchronicities, serendipities, and signs in your daily life that point you in the right direction and remind you that everything is unfolding in the perfect way. If you start to pay attention, you’ll see clues everywhere. If it feels like guidance, it is. I keep a small notebook with me to record small happenings—signs that show up, songs that started playing when I was thinking about a certain subject, the time, repeating numbers. Anything that makes me smile and reminds me that my dreams are on the way to physical manifestation. I read something one time that talked about how when we plant a flower, we don’t dig it up every five minutes to see if it is growing, we just trust that in a few months it will blossom. This is just like your dreams and desires. On the days that I am having a hard time trusting, I reread my driftwood journal and remind myself that there are no coincidences. Let the driftwood serve as proof—sometimes we need evidence, we are human after all.
5) Be, Do, Have. Most people think that when they have the thing they want, they’ll do certain things and then be a certain way. But the truth is that the opposite is true! Be the person today who already has all their desires, take actions that the best version of you would take, and what you desire will show up faster than you can imagine. You must BE the person who has the thing you desire BEFORE it actually appears in physical form.
6) Tap into the power of neutrality. Feeling overly excited or depressed about something working out or not working out is a polarizing energy. It implies that the manifestation of this thing has everything to do with your worthiness (see tip #2). And in fact, that is not the case at all. You are a child of God. You are Infinite. You are the entire Universe in human form. Which means that you are inherently worthy of everything you desire, no matter what. Stay grounded in neutral energy, knowing that the outcome of any event—good or bad, has nothing to do with your worthiness. Once you remember who you are, things start to happen. Quickly.
7) Have fun. You guys, what we perceive as reality is not really what is real. I can’t explain all of this yet, but what I can tell you is this: You decided to come to the earth at this specific time in history in this particular place. You chose your family and your friends before you were born. You signed up for this life! You came here to experience everything that the physical human experience has to offer. If you start to understand what reality really is—that you are a soul having a human experience and you came here to get closer to love, truth, and ascension, life doesn’t seem so serious anymore. Have a little fun. Remember you’re just a spirit having fun in the jungles of time and space.
Every single human on this earth is a creator. I believe that we all came to planet Earth because we wanted to create. And the journey of creation is the process. If you’re not happy now, you’re not going to be happy once you “get” somewhere or someone or something.
The contrast of not having what we desire makes our desires so much more fun when they do manifest. Remember that doubt is natural. Fear is natural. It is ok to feel low and unaligned. This is all part of the human experience.
Just don’t get stuck there.
Remember who you are and why you came here. Trust that the journey truly is the destination. And most importantly, keep having fun, no matter what. Because feeling good is the most magnetic vibration in the Universe and it should be your highest priority every day for the rest of your life.
Happy manifesting and big love,
Em
