How to release resistance
Hi, my name is Emily, and I’m a recovering pusher.
I have accepted that every day is another opportunity to release resistance. So, every day, I wake up and I do two things: I say “thank you” and I ask “how would you use me today?”
And while that seems really lovely (and it is), I’m also here to be real with you and tell you that it’s not as easy as it sounds to just let go.
There’s nothing that makes me feel worse than pushy energy from others and it feels equally as awful when I am pushing myself or trying to force things to happen in a certain way.
It is such a better experience when I let go and relax. That’s when things start to flow. Always and in All the Ways.
Knowing that this is the state I strive to be in as much as possible, I began a new journaling practice this month. I had read about this practice in a few different places, and I’ve learned that when I keep hearing the same thing over and over again, it’s not a coincidence. It’s the Universe hitting me over the head with a message I need to hear!
Luckily, I have gotten much better at taking the hints that I am given and listening, and I can say that this practice has served me in so many beautiful ways in just the one week I have been doing it.
Namely, it has allowed me to tune in with the guidance that is always available to me and just get the fuck out of the way.
I plan to keep this up for the whole month of July and see where it takes me. Maybe you want to join?
Here’s the practice:
1) Take a few deep breaths with eyes closed.
2) At the top of your journal, write, “What would you have me know today?”
3) Free write until you feel like you have received what you need. For me, it is usually a page or two, so this is a total of about 10-15 minutes.
4) When you are finished, read what came through. It always surprises me to read it over, even though I just wrote it. It is always just what I need to hear.
The key here is to not edit yourself. Don’t overthink it. Don’t try too hard. Don’t question if it is guidance or just the voices in your head.
Spoiler alert: the voices in your head are guidance.
Sometimes, the words that are written for me are reassurance that I am on the right path. Sometimes it is actual, practical advice. Sometimes they tell me who I need to call or connect with.
Don’t be surprised if there is some humor! Life is too short to be taken seriously and your guidance knows this!
Just let it flow.
Whatever comes through is what you are supposed to hear that day.
I’ve noticed that the more I practice this, the more that the guidance feels like it is from above and not from my head. My handwriting even changes when I do this; it’s like someone else is writing the words on the page!
The guidance I have received is incredible. Some days, when I am having a really hard time letting go, I write specific questions in addition to the “What would you have me know today?” prompt.
Do what feels right in the moment. Trust yourself and whatever comes through on the page.
I promise that as you start to cultivate this connection to your inner guidance system, your life will become more magical.
Also, at a practical level, this does not take very much time. I’m not asking you to meditate for 2 hours. I am literally asking you to write one page over your morning coffee. Make the time to connect. Time expands when you tune in.
As you start to make this a habit, your life will become easier. The decisions you are faced with, the questions you encounter throughout each day, will become clearer because you will start to ask for assistance all day long.
We all have a collective of guides who are just so very eager to help us. They adore us, they think we are the cutest things in this whole Universe. But you have to ask for help. That’s part of free will.
So use your Will to ask for help.
May you always accept and Know the truth that there is always guidance surrounding you in every way in All of the Ways, every single day and moment of your life.
Xoxo,
Em
